Delay in FTTP order

[link to this post]

I placed an order with BT on 5 December. on 23 December I called and raised a complaint as the install date was still provisional - was in their order tracking system for external work to be completed on 3 January - every day since i've had no external work done and the date for external work has been updated to the next day. I complained about this and was told to expect and update on 23 January - the update on 23 January was that i had to wait until 13 February for an update

I've now realised when looking at the BT Wholesale checker, the house next door to the left of mine and others in that direction down the street say
"Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG congested duct. FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered."

However house next door to the right of mine says and others in that direction down the street says
"FTTP is not available."

My house says
Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Feed Not Evaluated.

FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

As i seem to be on the boundary of FTTP being available or not - is there a chance after waiting months for an update, openreach will change my property to FTTP is not available? The exchange, Balham, has a copper stop sell coming up soon - do openreach have an obligation to provide FTTP service in this case, or because virgin media serve the area do they not have to?

I'm worried that i wont be able to get FTTP and will have to stick with virgin media

Has OR dug a trench and installed a 56mm grey tube from the road to your house, How did the other neighbours get their underground ducting installed.

Afaik the street has always had ducting. Fttc was never available - there are square covers in the pavement with British telecom written on them

Seems likely you are on the border of the current build and there is confusion on if they can actually cover you. You need to escalate this to the BT intervention team by emailing the CEO

BT Group's chief executive Philip Jansen can be contacted via [email protected].

i have already escalated to above email address and complaint is with executive complaints team - waiting to hear back in 2 days

If they cannot build out fttp - are they required to provide fttp coverage of all premises capable of getting a copper service before the stop sell order is in place? Or only premises currently using a copper service. I'm wondering if i cant get FTTP if there would be any benefit in taking up an ADSL line to ensure my property would get upgraded to FTTP in the future.

It is likely that OR will have to prove the duct and maybe clear any blockages. Their info will not be as good on your premises as you have no OR service at present.

This will take longer than usual due to the strike action that was happening in Dec / Jan.

Until the duct is proven clear yu will not have any movement.

Do you have visibility of where the BT copper cable comes into your house and is the access clear at your end?

If anyone has removed / blocked this while you were served by VM it makes ORs job much harder and your risks much greater..

Unfortunately its not clear where the cable comes into the property. There is a master socket next to the front door, but I cannot see any obvious cables coming into the property like I can with my virgin media cable

The stop sell only applies to people that can get FTTP (ie if you can get FTTP then they won't provide copper). But, if you can't get FTTP then they will continue to provide FTTC services.

If the master socket is by the front door you should be able to see where the cable comes into the master socket from. This may be directly through the wall to the outside, then down a metal covering into the ground. This will be the where the duct is.

It could also be down the inside of the wall and through the floor which is not so good news as this can be difficult to access for the fibre.

Is that just Openreach FTTP or could it be an altnet FTTP?
