I just wondered if anyone has made a move from Sky Full Fibre to Giganet Full Fibre?
It's all coming down to the price, and Sky's 1000Mb service is now costing me £63/month, and they aren't budging on that price.
I still have 12 months left of my 18 month contract, but because of the price rise on the broadband in April, the cancellations team have exempted me from any penalty for leaving, so this seems like a good opportunity to look elsewhere (even though I am a 24 year Sky Diamond VIP customer)...
Anyway, Giganet have a 500Mb service for £37/month, and I wondered if anyone has moved, or if not, is this a good idea or not...any thoughts would be appreciated!
I did ask Sky if I could simply downgrade from the 1000Mb to the 500Mb (to reduce the costs) but they wouldn't allow that either...they said I either stay on my current 1000Mb contract, or leave (with no penalty)...they were the only options offered.
Thanks

I haven't moved from Sky but I signed up to Giganet's 150Mb service in November when full fibre came to our part of the village. It has been absolutely rock solid in the few months we've been with them so no regrets.
I'm quite happy we signed up before they started supplying Amazon eero routers, we got a Technicolor Cobra that has 4x1GB ethernet ports and a built in analog telephone adapter, and we make full use of both those features. Apparently you can still get one of those routers on request.

That's great to know, thanks for the info!
That is one of the questions I wanted to ask...we still use the landline for calls (via Sky VOIP) so I was hoping to be able to carry on with that, but I don't know if that's even possible with Giganet...
I did try calling them on both of their listed telephone numbers, but no-one ever answered after being on hold for 30 minutes each time...that certainly set a red flag for me...
The other question I wanted to ask them was about their 900Mb service. I have it with Sky, and it's available via BT (if I went down that route), but although Giganet offer a 900Mb service, it wasn't showing as an option for me to purchase...do they use different equipment to Sky/BT for their Fibre?
And finally, I too was concerned about the router that they are offering...I currently use all 4 ports of my Sky hub, so I would like something similar, and the Cobra router you mentioned seems to look like a better option...
Also, I have a couple of Sky boosters to help fill in the WiFi cold spots around the house to create the Sky Mesh system...do Giganet have something similar?
Thanks

Any time I called Giganet to ask questions before I signed up my calls were answered very quickly so I'm surprised you didn't get an answer after 30 mins, maybe try leaving a whatsapp message?
where we are, 500Mb is the fastest service Giganet sell even though we could get 900Mb from BT and other providers so that suggests a commercial reason rather than a technical one.
For landline (incoming) calls we use AAISP and have the home telephone plugged in to the router as well as using Acrobits Softphone on our mobiles. If you're currently using some sort of telephone adapter with Sky then I suppose it would probably work with an eero if you purchase an ethernet switch to increase the number of ports. Likewise the mesh wifi, if that works similar to the BT Whole Home wifi discs where you plug the master disc in to the router then that will probably work too. Giganet would most likely now push extra eeros as the mesh solution but that's an expensive way to do it.

I didnt move from sky but i did have Giganet installed on the 31st of Jan.
My install is using the cityfibre network in bolton. my ip location shows as london and my speedtest all use london servers. My Ping is 10ms on average hwoer this just spike in the evenings (6-9) to around 15/18ms
In terms of hardware, they sent me an eero however I already had an Asus XT8 so i configured that and used it without issue. However since putting in my hardwire network at home Ive moved to a Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE in the last two weeks,
I chose Giganet as they offered a monthly rolling contract which made me feel better about jumping from Openreach to cityfibre and not being tied to a long contract on an unknown backhaul - the speed tests show talk talk for some reason which ive put down to talk talk owning cityfibre

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/16777551323... CITYFIBRE IS BASED IN LONDON AND IS JOINTLY OWNED BY ANTIN INFRASTRUCTURE PARTNERS, GOLDMAN SACHS ASSET MANAGEMENT, MUBADALA INVESTMENT COMPANY AND INTEROGO HOLDING.
Sorry for the caps , this is from City Fibre website

Talktalk don't and have never owned Cityfibre.
Cityfibre bought Talktalk's fibre network in and around York but that was just an outright asset sale. Neither own or part own the other.

I eventually managed to get through to a Giganet CS guy, and he was really helpful, and totally transparent...he explained why it is taking so long for anyone to answer phones right now...they are just swamped and cannot cope with the number of staff that they have. He did say that more staff are arriving very soon, but the company has grown massively these past 6 months.
Anyway, they seem to provide their Fibre services one of two ways...via Cityline (or something sounding like that) or Openreach...if it is Cityline, they can offer the 900Mb service, but if it's Openreach (which I am using) max is 500Mb...it's not because Openreach can't supply 900Mb (they obviously do, as I have it), but because the price Openreach charge for 900Mb is ridiculously high (his words)...
So, I would be restricted to 500Mb max. Then there is the activation fee of £55 (even though Fibre is installed) and then there is the probable booster I would need, as I need one with Sky right now because of the distance from the input socket of the Fibre to the far end of my property. The boosters are rented from Giganet at £6/month.
So, we are now at £43/month for 500Mb service, which is basically what the Sky price would be...
Then there is the aspect of the landline VOIP service. Giganet don't have one yet. He is expecting it in April, but that's another £5/month once it goes live, so we are now at £48/month, plus I'd also lose my current landline number...so, all in all, probably not worth me changing over...I'll just keep my Sky 1Gig at £55/month and maybe downgrade some of my Sky TV services...
Thanks for the help!

I've been on Giganet over a year -- I had a similar experience. A couple of issues early on and took an age to get through, but they were very open & did what they said they would.
In fact before ordering I contacted them with some questions and had some very transparent answers...
