Hello,
We don't have any altNETs operating in our immediate neighbourhood and Openreach FTTP isn't planned according to the Openreach checker.
However, we've had some works recently on the telegraph pole and some new "equipment" has appeared.

Does anyone know what this equipment is and any relation to an impending FTTP install?
Please and thanks,
P.

that is indeed fttp equipment. the box at the left on top of the pole with "teats" is what each household gets connected to and the hanging cables supply the box when the fibre network is all connected together

Looks like Oen Reach CBT the alt nets I have seen use the HT aerial fibre nodes

As others have said, the CBT's are OR, the photo isn't clear, but cable will have a yellow stripe, next will be the yellow "Caution Overhead Fibre" label nailed to pole.

The one on the left of the pole with the white bracket looks like a netomnia box, they've added them around here alongside the OR ones that arent on white brackets. On the bundled cable, or at the bottom of the pole, there might be a label that contains the work order number and more details about who it's for.
They generally don't leave a bundle of fibre hanging there without something to say who owns it so that when the next group of contractors rock up to complete the work they don't mistakenly hook one providers fibre into someone else's network
You can check local works via https://bidb.uk/ too. It will probably contain a few pole replacements and/or blockage clearances.

Just noticed today, our pole was replaced a few weeks back, the new pole doesn't have a "Caution Overhead Fibre" yellow label, "we're all doomed" (said in best private Frazier accent)

I didn't know that "we're all doomed" was part of the local Seattle vernacular. It was part of the vocabulary of Pte. Frazer (played by John Laurie) in Dad's Army.

I had to post similar question, surprised is no blogs or articles showing people what the FTTP pole stuff looks like, as when I googled I only found generic images used on news articles.

Just a bit of a bizarre situation as the Openreach team replied to an e-mail stating our postcode was not in any roll-out plan, and this is the same as the check on the Openreach website.
Sorry, not sure how to reply to more than one user - it's not Netomnia either. Their website shows they have no presence in our County at all.
Openreach's techs haven't returned - it's been over a fortnight and the cables/fibres are still dangling loosely off the poles.

Small fttp projects are not part of the wider openreach build program, particularly but not exclusively where there maybe external funding.
Not saying this is an example of such though.

Are you in Scotland?
R100 contracts do not show on the OR site until live. Same can also apply for other non OR driven deployments.

Long story short, some years back BT and BDUK said we where not getting FTTP despite a surveyor telling gf it was coming, then they said the (clearly visible) infrastructure wasn't anything to do with them and didn't exist, a few weeks later FTTP was available

Not sure where you are but maybe check if 'IX Wireless' or '6G Internet' (as they also call themselves) are in your area. They are a controversial company and in Bolton where they have deployed, that is what I have seen but on new poles they have put up.

They can and do show as they did for me. The OR site had me listed as in plans and the R100 had an approx month date.

In Worcestershire.
Interestingly, it's still the same - no contractors have returned to complete the work.

We're now a few months later and no one is claiming responsibility/ownership - I was getting my hopes up for nothing.
I'm presuming there's some significant cost involved - if not for the fibre (?) but for the labour and getting the stuff on the poles. Just been ditched.

If it is any consolation - here an altnet came around, laid their fibres through the Openreach ducts, connected all that wanted to be connected and left. Hot on their heels were Openreach's contractor (KNCircet) pulling in their cables. 15 months on those Openreach fibres are still unused.
