FTTH Do Openreach use "community" fibre cables?

[link to this post]

Apologies if I get some of the termonology wrong here, or refer to BT when I mean Openreach or v v.

Our area has just been cabled for FTTH by County Broadband, who are now offering connections. However their opinion locally and reviews are shall we say, not good.

Someone I know who lives locally (but a street which was completed first) was recently offered FTTH with BT Broadband, and the Openreach checker for his address shows that FTTH is available. Is this likely that Openreach or BT are using the cabling laid by County, as there has not been separate works.

I'm assuming that should I wait a little while that BT will be able to provide my address FTTH via this cabling?

BT will only deliver over OpenReach cabling. Sounds like the address had cabling for both providers installed independently.

Openreach and County Broadband do not share any cabling so if someone has both services available to them that means both companies have cabled to their street.

Its a personal choice if someone waits for their preferred provider but if I had poor broadband I would go for whoever was available and review at the end of the contract. I agree County broadband have had a poor reputation so it comes down to how desperate you are for a better broadband services today.

Thanks thats interesting.

Not just their poor reviews, but in the current climate of spiralling costs, I do wonder what would happen to customers of little firms like this should the business not be viable long term etc
