End of an era

[link to this post]

There has recently been a lot of OpenReach activity in the local area (EGNR), up poles stringing new fibre between existing and new poles and during the last week the removal of a pair of black composition GPO Insulators (No.16?) to be replaced by a CBT. 53.194541 -3.026532

Apparently a lot of the ducts between poles are blocked, they showed me the marking for one blockage, right next to a water meter fitted in recent years. (Next door to us, when they fitted the water meter they damaged to electricity main - it went pop late December a few years back. It was repaired within hours, but no street lights since Scottish Power/MANWEB don't replace 1950's style cable which has an integral switched live for street lighting. The phone cable of similar vintage is aluminium....

Cheers!
