Over a month ago, Openreach dug up my street and installed some conduit. It runs about 60cm away from the curb/property (the road has no pavement). The old copper cables are all direct in ground on the properties, so there is no conduit running from the road to the house.
From looking on these forums, I can see that typically when there is a street with direct-in-ground copper cables, Openreach will install toby boxes at each address and then install conduit on the property when FTTP is actually ordered. These toby boxes have definitely not been installed.
A few weeks after the install in the road, sure enough FTTP started being available from some ISPs. I put an order in with Sky and within days an OR engineer had been to my property and sprayed while lines from the conduit in the road up to my house - it all looked good at this point! However days later, Sky phoned to say Openreach had cancelled the order and they were not able to give any more information but said I could try ordering again.
On my 2nd order, sure enough days later Openreach were back. When they looked into the previous order, they said the reason it was cancelled is because none of the toby-boxes were installed and that sometime in the coming months, Openreach would be back again to dig up the road and install all of the toby boxes. Until then, they wouldn't be able to install FTTP.
In the meantime, my address is still listed as having FTTP available and I can put through an order for the full 900mb with several different ISPs - but I guess that if I were to try order again it would just keep being cancelled until OR finish off the road.
Has this happened to anyone else? Surely it can't be normal for them to install conduit along the road, and then come back months later to install the toby boxes? It feels to me like somehow they forgot to do half the job the first time around but that seems too silly to be believable!
It won't let me upload a screenshot of my DSL checker on this message - but here is a link to the screenshot if it helps explain anything to anyone https://imgur.com/a/PBAAeHX
