Gigabit Networks - installing 3rd party router

[link to this post]

Evening all,

I've recently moved across to gigabit networks full fibre. The router they supplied was no good, so went out and purchased my own AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Router (archer AX73). I've called them up (gigabit) and all they said was change the vlan to 911, dynamic ip was set and make sure DHCP was enabled. Done this and it still will not connect and they wont provide any more information to help.... is there anything else i can do?

Many thanks

Try this:

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1584/

Just leave IPTV Vlan blank and IP-Phone Vlan as you dont need them just use internet Vlan id 911.Make sure to tick 802.1Q Tag

I would recommend doing a factory reset on the router before doing the above just incase you have changed any settings that would stop it from working.

Hi,
I have also purchased the ax5400 as the fritx box is completely useless. I called gigabit and they also advised to change VLANid to 911. I am trying to do this with the tp link tether app but not having any luck at all (noob). Could you please help? Maybe a screenshot of the settings page?
Thanks smile

Hi,
Could you please help with how you managed to get this to work!!?? Did you use the tether app or access router settings via web browser? Was about to return the router but luckily came across this thread!! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Personally, being the old f**t that I am, I would recommend you do any work on the Router via a cabled connection, using browser interface to the admin pages. I would never change anything on my Router over a WIFI connection. But that's just me .....

Use the router's website as that has more features 😇 ..... The apps are typically for people who just want limited but easy access to the router..

"you don't need an app for that" 😁
