YouFibre help needed changing Router

[link to this post]

Hello everyone I have been with YouFibre now since April with the 1000mbps package with a static IP. They supply you with a Eero 6 pro router which I’ve been a little unhappy with. I spoke to YouFibre support yesterday and they advised I could purchase my own router and it would work with the service without issue.

I went ahead and purchased a ASUS TUF Gaming AX3000 V2 Dual Band WiFi 6 Router which was delivered this evening

I have installed the router and I’m getting no internet service no matter what I try yet if I plug back in the Eero router the service is fine

I’m assuming I need to change some settings but I’m not very clued up on this kind of thing so was looking to reach out for some help to see if anyone has any ideas on what I can do to get it all working

Thanks In advance

log into the asus routers webpage and go thru the internet setup - it should set the conenction up. I believe it will use automatic ip (theres no dhcp setting there which youfibre uses)

You may be able to login to the Eero and see how the Wan connection is configured. Alternatively you could ask Youfibre support or visit any forum they have.

Configuring the Wan interface to just use DHCP so Youfibre allocates it an IP address might just work.

Hi,

I too have a YouFibre connection with a Static IP address.

I understand that the static IP connection is tied to the MAC Address of the router so, if I wish to swap routers I have two choices:

1) Spoof the MAC address of the replacement router so that it matches the MAC address of the original router

2) Contact YouFibre and inform them of the MAC address of the replacement router which will enable it to be used with the static IP address.

I hope this helps.

What they said except that you don't need to provide support the new MAC address, just ask them to delete your lease. The new router will be able to lease an address once the lease for the old one is gone.

Spoofing the MAC is also a good shout. It'll be on the sticker on the base of the Eero if I remember rightly, such I may not.
