I have an existing FTTP connection that, because of pending renovation works to my home, I need Openreach to relocate and am attempting to ascertain my options. Having spoken to my ISP Zen, I appreciate this will be chargeable.
As most of the proposed new cable routing will be at gutter level down the side of my home before descending to ground level I believe that I will require someone/body called the "Flat roof team" (normal engineers will not touch it) I am prepared to undertake leg work IE install PVC tubing with pull lines to mitigate work required by them.
Does anyone know what are the rules re siting the splicing box (grey cabinet) I appreciate that an engineer will not want to be dangling off a ladder (with expensive kit) to splice the cable but some of the installation I've seem are a shockingly unsightly "hodge podge" of spaghetti running all over the place (for instance down to box and then all the way back up)
I don't anticipate this is going to be easy to organise with Openreach (via Zen) so I wish to educate myself as to what is technically possible /reasonable( as opposed to what the engineer may find most convenient) before taking tentative steps to explore further
With this in mind, does anyone know what is the maximum length of Openreach FTTP drop wire (don't need hybrid as fully fibred) that is available to Openreach engineers? Additionally can this cable be routed within standard 1 inch (customer supplied) PVC tubing.
Any technical documents or links most welcome.
Thanks
Alan
