All properties with FTTC No WBC SOGEA

[link to this post]

All properties that have FTTC today now show across various providers that there's only ADSL broadband available. On further investigation it looks like the BT Wholesale availablity checker shows WBC SOGEA as a null value (i.e --). I believe WBC SOGEA is now the column that should be used to check for availability due to the WLR stop sell.

Though why would it be showing as null and providers only able to offer ADSL for these properties?

Can you link to the checker you are using? The BT Wholesale one (https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/) has a SOGEA column when I visit it.

Sure using https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Snapshot of results showing WBC SOGEA returning null value: https://ibb.co/Xbz5NnY

All properties in village that have FTTC today now show as above and providers when renewing contracts only show ADSL as available.

Yes it's odd. If they had run out of ports in the cabinet then FTTC would normally show as "wait list" rather than "unavailable", although it's possible they've changed this recently.

The fact that FTTPoD shows as 330/50 rather than 1000/220 shows that FTTP availability has not been touched in the database in a long time.

Since it's showing predicted FTTC speeds, clearly FTTC/SOGEA *should* be potentially available.

Raise a query over the phone with the ISP you want to order service from, and they can raise it with BTW or Openreach. I suspect this is a database problem which may resolve itself in a few days, or it may need a kick from OR.

The BTw Checker need revamp a new layout. The checker often confused people thinking FTTP is available but it was FTTPoD and think FTTC is available but it doesn't unless your cabinet are SOGEA and SOGFAST available.

I think BTw can't be bothered to updated a better fairer checker! THe ISP can see the checker if SoGEA or SoGfast is available or not but we can't!

Mine BTw checker showing SoGEA and SOGFAST is available even thought I am on SoGfast 160/30 on the line with no dial tone on it.

It appears to be a glitch with the system. Another user in another thread posted the same issue.

FTTC showing as Unavailable in the checker is an error or perhaps it's a glitch caused due to Openreach trying to retire analogue and move users to Digital Voice.

Hence why SOGEA will show as available and not FTTC. It can be confusing for people. Single Order Generic Ethernet Access is still FTTC but without analogue phone line or telephone as a service. You get only broadband. But this broadband is still Fibre to the Cabinet.

So for it to show as Unavailable can be deceiving particularly when trying to move to a new home where you don't know if that property has FTTC. But when this is showing as Unavailable for absolutely 100% of all postcodes then we know the checker is wrong.

BT Wholesale availability checker is not to be fully taken for granted. The Openreach checker will show Superfast as available. When you try to order an FTTC service through most providers and enter that postcode it will reveal the FTTC packages that are available to order.

If you enter a postcode that genuinely doesn't have FTTC then it will not give you the option to order.

The checker needs to be updated to show that Analogue Phone is unavailable but Digital Voice is as part of FTTC and not just show the service as being unavailable at all.

The checker is intended for BT Wholesale's customers. The best thing BTW could do rather than a better, fairer checker would be to get rid of the public one entirely. Would probably save their customers and themselves some grief.
