"No capacity" knockback from OR but checker doesn't agree

[link to this post]

Hi all - Can anyone help me get to the nitty gritty on a friend's line/SOGEA order?

His ISP takes the order (check says availability, no wait list) - but then OR knock it back saying there is no capacity. He's tried 4 times.

It makes me wonder if its the actual copper line that's not available rather than ports in his cab - but info is tricky to get hold of.

Cheers

I guess a little more detail might help others to look into it.

What’s your friends relationship to the property ? , Is your friend moving into this address , is already in the address and wanting an Openreach based connection, already has an Openreach connected service and wants an additional service, from either the same ISP as the existing or from a different ISP , or something else ?
A random address from that postcode shows SoGEA available , as you say ,it’s not likely to be a FTTC capacity problem.
Which ISP is the order is being made with ? , if they cannot explain the reason why their order is being cancelled, has your friend tried an alternative provider , had the same problem, and they also cannot explain the failure.

If the situation is your friend is moving into the premises, it’s possible the current occupants are vetoing the new application when the ‘sorry to see you leave’ notification comes along , if your friend is not moving into the address but already resides there , and no existing OR based service, then any OR instigated cancellation is difficult to explain, but the obvious entity to enquire with OR , is the ISP your friend has chosen to use,

Hi - he's purchased it, is in it and ideally wants FTTC. There is a severed BT socket at the property so that needs addressing by Openreach as part of the job - which makes me wonder if that is a complication.

He's placed the order 4 times through Vodafone>Openreach and each time it gets knocked back after a few days due to "no capacity at that location". Obviously Vodafone see the same as us - green avaalbility on the checker hence being able to place the order.

Cheers

I've just asked him a few more questions and may push him to place an order with BT directly.

The existing disconnected line at the address shouldn’t cause the cancellation by Openreach , it would simply be addressed as an early life failure, and brought into service via that mechanism.
Ordering via someone else , chosing an ISP likely to using a different backhaul provider ( even if simply to test the system with the intention to cancel whilst in the cooling off period ) would ‘prove’ the issue as VF’s ,
It is conceivable that it’s an interconnect issue with VF ( insufficient cable links , capacity issues) that’s the problem, but unfortunately it’s inevitable that ISP will deflect issues when they occur’
Its simply convenient to say ‘it’s not us, it’s our suppliers’ , no one should accept that BS though , consumers don’t order anything with Openreach, ISP do.

Thank you.

We've just placed a new order via BT directly so fingers crossed!

And if BT say yes it will show that OR is not the problem, but VF are and thus good reason to avoid VF.

grrrrrrr

BT have "Auto Ceased" the order with no more detail really apart from "no port available"...

So guess we are out of luck!

Thanks all.
