packet loss when downloading a game.

Hi

dont know if anyone can help me but i moved from virgin media to full fibre bt

i have my own router in
and when i down load a game i get loads of red packet loss i had the ax89x asus router in that was doing that then i put the tp link ax11000 and that does the same.
anyone know why this is doing it?

Unless your games are taking miuch longer to downlaod than you expect then this is nothing to worry about.

If you are utilising most of your bandwidth downloading large files then the router has better things to do than respond to the llittle packets from the BQM so the latency recorded by the tool will go up and possibly show packet loss.

If you max out your connection it means that other stuff has to wait, it's normal unless you start configuring QoS.

I did the same move as you back in May, and noted the same thing happening.

Basically my old Asus RT-AC3200 is running at it's limit on a 1gig connection especially as that connection is PPPoE. As said above it's really just more about the router is too busy to answer incoming pings from the Firebox that Thinkbroadband use. Nothing to worry about unless it's happening a lot while you're not doing anything / asleep etc.

yeah just found it funny as the virgin media line didnt do it only the bt fibre.
