Sky Fibre new installation requires Sky and BTO visits

[link to this post]

I tried to order Sky Full Fibre today, hoping that would be easier to separate broadband from phone line, i.e. the new service would be in addition to teh existing FTTC connection (I'll update my splitting phone/BB thread with a concern):

The final piece of sign-up threw a big spanner in the works:
Sky Broadband Installation Free
An engineer will come to your home to install and activate your Broadband.

Step 1: Connection box installation An Openreach engineer will attach a small connection box to your external wall. You won’t need to be at home for this step.

Step 2: In-home installation A Sky engineer will come to your home. They’ll install a new socket and fibre cable inside your home, near a power supply.

Really, I'd need to make two visits 'to supervise' else the MIL will panic! Is this expected?

Yep. Openreach will come and provide ‘light’ to an external splice point .

Sky have their own installers who will come and fit the ONT, and set up the router, etc, etc.

For the external csp placement can't you leave instructions as to where you want to be positioned?

Right, no need to be there for the first visit then, cool.

I would like the external connection to come in at first floor level (upstairs), front of the house, and have seen that BTO installers are amenable to this. Bringing Sky installers to the complete the connection might make this more challenging?

That would be the Sky part of the installation anyway - the splice point always goes at ground level.

The OR engineer visited and confirmed that he could install the FTTP connection through the wall at first floor level. He would drill from inside the property.

However, I decided to have the connection come in at a different location, which was at ground level in the end, which he also drilled from inside the property anyway - he said they always drill from inside the property.

The fibre is pre terminated on the inside connection end so should always be fed inside out. The process is often referred to as an inside out install.

They will indeed drill out from 1st floor, but the cable will run externally to ground level where the CSP (customer splice point) is located.
