New Poles.

So when a telecoms network supplier adds a new pole (not a replacement) and this can also be a box, is there any wait time before they can start using it ? or can they sart using it straight away. I know theres a notice on the pole etc, where people can raise objections via the contact part on the notice.

If the pole is in, then it can be used … unless it’s awaiting duct work to bring a feed to it UG.
Whose pole is it ? Not all poles are created equal. If it belongs to an AltNet, then only they can use it. Openreach poles are fair game for anyone using PIA.

Openreach and it will be an overhead feed. It was placed there to circumvent a collapsed duct, theres a few(enough to make it uneconomical for fttp) on the route from the agg node

Thanks😊. The target is 1st april(publicly known), the only thing i can see that's gonna go wrong is people complaining about the extra poles 🙈

Good luck. Poles can cause a remarkable amount of bad feeling. My own street was earmarked 4 years ago but a combination of collapsed / blocked ducts and, we think, one homeowner opposing a key pole outside their house ground the whole thing to a halt (and then Light Source went pop and put the final nail in the coffin!)

As a couple of other anecdotes, OR tried to put a run of poles up an adjacent road for a business fibre connection, but discovered that one key location was just too wet and the pole wouldn't stay up, so they abandoned it and pulled all of the poles back out! The fibre ended up passing up my street (using the pole feeding my house), but as it was "the wrong sort of fibre", we're still yet to see a connection.

Youfibre have now cleared a few of the duct blockages and moved things on a bit (we have kit on our pole now), but the other 2/3 of the estate is dug-in cables. The Netomnia civils guys said that they'd "probably just use poles instead" for those, but that whole area has almost no poles. I know the people that live up there - they will kick up an absolute stink at the prospect of poles! I'm expecting this to take a significant time to resolve (if it ever does). Providing I get mine, I give not a hoot

We have lots of poles already so not an issue - even some "crazy poles" areas where you think "why is there soo many poles in a small area". Collapsed ducts where the issue - that has been overcome. I saw some of the guys in the manholes putting either fibre joints or a splitter. It doesn't matter which as the progress will be some what linear to us. But it gives a progress maker for the non OR nosey public.
