Gigaclear are about to offer me FTTP.
Their initial price offer is good, but their ongoing prices are pretty horrible. I would obviously try to negotiate a more reasonable deal at that point, but I don't know how far they would move.
So there is a reasonable chance that at the 18-month mark, I might find myself going back to an Openreach-based FTTC supplier.
Roughly how much is reconnection to FTTC likely to cost?
Depending on who you use, some providers will give free connections. My phone line was cut before I went with Plusnet FTTC years ago as I was using a Wireless network before and Plusnet did not charge at all for connection.
According to BT website, it could be around £140 if there is no dial tone.
Also, remember that Openreach is laying FTTP and if it is available where you are then getting FTTC could be difficult.
I may be in the same situation in July, depending on what Zzoomm can do for me, but I may just drop to a lower speed as apart from the odd provider like Now broadband, most of them are now the £29 a month range even for FTTC and since I now have Zzoomm installed I may as well keep it.
You can try and get a better deal at the end of the contract, how horrid is their ongoing prices?
I thought alt networks were supposed to be better value.
