Need help as not a clue what I'm on about

[link to this post]

Ok, I hope I'm in the right forum - probably not - so here goes.

Currently have fast broadband with Virgin Media (pretty sure underground cable). Want to leave Virgin (dreadful customer service) and so will need OpenReach line installed to move to BT, PlusNet, Sky etc. Phone BT and the bloke tells me I can't have BT broadband because I can't have an OpenReach line at my address. Somewhat confused as the people next door have OpenReach/BT. He checks some more and then confirms that my neighbours either side can have BT, but not me. Now I live in a row of terraced houses - all identical - so why not? Tells me he can't see the reason and to contact OpenReach. I contact OpenReach, they tell me to contact BT. I'm guessing this isn't new to any of you on here smile

Some internet hunting and I come up with the following info about my address and my neighbours from "BT Broadband Availability Checker".

Under ASDL Products my house only has 2 rows (WBC Fixed Rate, Fixed Rate) and they are both set to a value of 1, whereas my neighbours house has 5 rows (WBC ADSL +2, etc) and the values go from 2 to 8.

Are there any clever clogs on here who can explain [v-e-r-y s-i-m-p-l-y] what the numbers mean, and can they be fixed to allow me an OpenReach line. thank you so much.

Maybe there is a problem with the data Openreach show for your property. One option would be to approach a supplier such as A&A who might be willing to investigate the situation further.

Sounds like an address match issue. Does your property have a name as well as a number or anything odd like that?

Go to www.findmyaddress.co.uk and locate your UPRN as well as the UPRN for the two houses either side of yours, then enter them in the bottom field on https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL and paste the results in here.

Chances are the next steps will be to complete the "my neighbours can get fibre but I can't" form at https://www.openreach.com/forms/fibre-broadband-avai...

We have always had a problem with our address and it being recognised & now I know why having checked as above.

We have 2 UPRN - one with the house name and another different number without it.

It appears that this isn't actually wrong but it does mean that I can get different results depending on whether I include the house name in any search. In drop down menus they are often both included but different!

BT Broadband checker fortunately shows them both available with the same profile.

without postcode and address Its hard to give you any info But I did manage a business on a site with 4 BT lines once and when I tried to order another line they said no lines are available at the location took a while to track down the issue.
If you can give me more details on PM I can find you more information
