FTTC router with POE port.

[link to this post]

Anybody got any links or can point me to an FTTC router which has a built-in POE port. Need to put a POE access point in a community lounge high up as the previous router which required a power socket, WiFI extenders which also plugged in and access point with a POE injector all got pinched.
Going to keep the router in an office and just run a network cable to an AP mounted high on the wall.

Is there a reason for needing the router to have PoE? You could just use a PoE injector which would make it easier to source a router as the PoE requirement goes away.

I would vote for the injector too. If you have lots of APs then instead use a PoE switch, like Netgear GS110TP.

Mikrotik have routers with PoE (e.g. the hEX PoE) but they don't have FTTC modems. So either way, you end up with a two-box solution.

The PoE injector will be cheap, and may be included with the AP anyway.

As others suggest - PoE injector which could be close to the router/switch or at a convenient place en-route to the WAP.

Depending on power and voltage too, keep an eye on ebay for Ubiqiuiti ones - they turn up very frequently, singly or in batches And they tend to be cheap - I got 5 for £7 recently.

If you do get an Ubiquiti PoE injector check that will be compatible with the AP you are using. Some Ubiquiti injectors are 24v passive only whereas others are 802.11af or at compliant.

Why reply to me with a comment that reflects part of my post?
