Gigaclear Install.

[link to this post]

My Daughter and Boyfriend are moving in to a Barn Conversion in the (Southeast), There is an old NTE5 fitted in the barn but the BT ADSL2 speeds are not good with an exchange line.
No FTTC.

https://bidb.uk/ told me that Gigaclear are live in that area and a very near neighbor has Gigaclear installed (maybe 100M away).
Streetview and streetside viewers are that old I cannot see if Gigaclear use the BT poles on the other side of the lane or not.

Can anyone tell me please from ordering to install how long they take to go live .

Also any problems to note.

I have told my daughter to ask the owners of the barn (next door) to get there permission to have it installed.

The Barn has a long side wall that runs along the lane side and to me looks an easy install with the BT poles opposite side or if they did not use the poles for an OH feed it would be easy to run a duct along the grass verge..

I couldn’t swear to it, but all the Gigaclear installs I’ve seen round here have been via a pot on the perimeter of the property. Not seen them use PIA and Openreach .

They've been putting their kit on Openreach poles in Pamber Heath/Silchester, Little London (Hants/Berks border)

Well there ya go. Not come across that before.

I know Pamber Heath/Silchester quite well, with the exchange hidden away in the woods there.

That is what I have for south east of Sevenoaks. Gigaclear gave me a fibre cable which I used to connect from the junction box in the pot to my Gigaclear box in my roof. A few years ago Gigaclear changed the box from working as a router to bridge mode. I now have my own Opnsense router. .

Mine was a DIY install. Most people were connected by a Gigaclear contractor.

I was surprised when I saw it, I'm back that way this week, they (well Lane's Contractors) digging up the road by the Post Office in Pamber Heath, and sticking their kit on top of a couple of poles. Gigaclear seem to be doing Pamber H, Silchester, and Little London, and confusingly (I didn't realise they were separate) Giganet have done Tadley. Their patches, and the division line seems to exactly match the Openreach Tadley and Silchester exchange areas ?

Back to my Daughters place, she has asked the landlord about if he would mind Gigaclear installing and he come back with horror stories, he said they wanted to dig his drive up to other properties down his private drive but he refused, so not sure who at Gigaclear or was it the man who digs the trenches said they would get a court order to do it, but could not.
so he then told my Daughter they illegally installed a box (Toby pot ?) outside his gate in the grass verge.

He also said there were a lots of 'No show' for other local residents who wanted installs.

Now my daughters not sure what to do thanks to him.

Surly the Toby pots they would have blanket permission from the local council for that area ??

Do you think it worth me contacting Gigaclear CEO Nathan Rundle about this install to make sure it goes smoothly ?
