I noticed a red LOS light on my Openreach ONT at around 00:30 this morning. Weirdly though, it seems this was somewhat geographically widespread, with people across the country reporting drops on different Openreach ISPs across the country, so not limited to one OLT. Note the spikes on Downdetector.
Any thoughts on what this likely was? Maybe some sort of OLT software update?
Incidentally it also appears Sky's status checker is as useful as a chocolate fireguard - it reported no issues with connection or router, and indeed even reported a speed, when the LOS light was on! Seems it's just an arbitrary wait followed by cached status or something.
