Hey Broadband Asus Rt ax82u

[link to this post]

I've just got a Hey Broadband fibre connection. The engineer showed it running with their router at 900/900 up down.

I've since connected my own router, an Asus rt ax82u directly to the ONT, a adtran sdx611.

I've used the same cable to go from the router to the ONT and have a gigabit cable from the router to my laptop, which is showing as a gigabit connection.

However on speed test the best I get is 300/300 up down.

Any ideas on settings I should be changing to get my full speed?

Let's start here. Have you managed 900/900 with their router?

Yep it was running at 900/900 using their router.

Just swapped the routers over keeping all the same cables and it dropped to 300/300

What happens if you change back to their router?

Goes back up to 900/900.

Already tried a lot of router swapping etc which is why I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the ax82u

Can you change the WAN mac address of the ax82u so that is the same as Hey router?

Have you done a firmware update and then a reset to factory defaults on the Asus router?

Yeah it firmware updates everyday so it's up to date.

Not going to factory setup as my network relies on a specific set of assigned manual op addresses and I don't want to lose that.

I'd rather work out what the issue is that is affecting the router's ability to operate at the full speed offered to it.

Check if you have any firewalling add ins enabled. Or do you use pppoe ?

the ax82u doesn't get a firmware update everyday..

Do a backup of the config and then reset the ax82u. then try the router in its default state to rule out your config.

The latest version - ASUS RT-AX82U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24963 does have a wan instability fix.
