Availability of 1.8Gb fibre from major ISPs - when?

[link to this post]

I just read this article from April:
https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2024/04/broadb...

Interesting stuff and indeed 1.8G fibre is available in my area, however very few ISPs seem to support it at the moment (EE, Freeola, ...?)

In the article Zen is touted to begin offering it soon but it's November now and still nothing from them.

Anyone have any idea when the more mainstream ISPs might pick up the faster tiers?

A related thread from yesterday over at ISPreview forums, you may wish to read / participate in. A couple of members there are also members here:

At the moment I know of only EE offering this particular tier. I have been on it (in Suffolk) since middle of the year.

For providers directly in Openreach exchanges, it will come down to whether they have 1G or 10G cablelinks connecting to Openreach's equipment. For obvious reasons you can't offer a >1Gbps service on a 1G cablelink. It will then come down to whether the provider feels it's justified to upgrade to 10G or not.

For providers who buy through wholesale (BTW, PXC, etc) it will depend on whether they offer it in the relevant exchanges.
