Green Metal Box on BT Pole

[link to this post]

I have been meaning to ask what this Green Metal Box attached to a BT pole is. It has been there for a couple of years or so and appeared when Open Reach were rolling out Fibre in the Hawarden (WNHAW) Exchange Area.

The pole serves just a few customers. The box can be seen here:-

https://ancient-mariner.co.uk/public/20241216_134510... and https://ancient-mariner.co.uk/public/20241216_134534...

Any ideas its purpose? There is no ID on the metal box.

Cheers!

A picture of the head of the pole, to show what cables or fibres are coming down or going up might elict some useful speculation.

It's a splitter node.

Check other stock photos with cover removed.

Yeah both options, below ground or pole have been about since the beginning of their rollout....

See half-way down the page for some other styles:

It does NOT have to be a splitter node. It might just be a track node, or a DP node .

It was from earlier BFT equipment.

Worked on a few.

Very true. Ultimately another enclosure style to contain splice trays.

I thought they were drop off point for Deliveroo to leave the BT Tech's coffee and doughnut order.

There are many of these in Cornwall where they received OR FTTP in the early stages of their rollout.

What the dogs seem to really enjoy peeing on, is the cabs.
