New FTTP entering the house ?

Hi,
I'm about to order a new FTTP service and I would like this to enter the house in a different location to the PSTN line.

My house is feed underground and the PSTN line comes up on the right hand side of my porch. Ideally I'd like the Fibre to enter on the house on the opposite side so it enters on the left side of the porch. This is an example of what it looks like https://imgur.com/a/VJVJek5

In a nutshell yes. Discuss with the engineer on the day. Most Openreach engineers (presuming this is an Openreach install) are quite helpful and accommodating. They’ll need to bring the lead-in cable out of the UG duct and then run it up at eves level to where you want the cable to enter.

At this point they’ll likely drop the cable back to low level to install a CSP (it needs to be where the engineer can work off the ground rather than elevated). At the CSP the external and internal cables transition.

I think that the logical place for the CSP in that scenario would be right at the end of the duct, where there is currently a terminal box[?? this might not be OP's house] for the existing copper and then run on in internal fibre to the desired entry point. Unless OP wants the duct relocating, which would be a whole different ball game.

Yes you can have that, but the cable will come out the ground in the same place it does now and will have to be clipped over the door and the window and drop back down.

You may also be able to have the CSP fitted to the top of the duct and then clip the cable coming out of the CSP below the door but at a low level it's easier to damage and if it comes unclipped it could be a trip hazard.

I'd prefer not to have it installed where the current ducting is, as I don't have gigabit links from there to the rest of the house.

Coming into the left of the porch would feed into my office, which does have links around the house.

As far as I can see it would need to be brought in via the current ducting and then cabled either over the top of the door, or under the door. Then in through the wall where there is power available.

Just want to check this is possible/practical etc before I order

As already stated , it shouldn’t be an issue , assuming it’s Openreach, their CSP is designed to integrate with the existing grey plastic capping , by replacing the current grey block 101a , so that’s where the CSP would be fitted ( unless you had a strong objection to that ) , the internal cable ran from there up and over the door frame to enter on the left hand side of the door ( as you want ) ….a possible but unlikely reason for delay , if the block paving was provided sometime after the duct was in place , when the driveway company compacted the blocks it’s possible they also ‘squashed’ the duct making placing a new optical cable into it problematic, if there is a stoppage then that obviously would require some blocks to be lifted , but it’s a remote possibility , certainly not worth concerning yourself with in advance of the installation.

The block paving was fitted after the ducting. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

Installation happened today.
No issues all done and install where I asked.

How did they end up positioning the CSP and routing the external cable etc.?

They routed the cable up the wall from the existing ducting, above the window and then down the other wall an into the garage converstion.

Internally they've put it exactly were I asked and it looks very neat
