DLM intervention during the day?

[link to this post]

Hi

I gather from reading various things online that DLM intervention used to happen (i.e. causing a resync) during the night, but nowadays can happen at any time. However, other people seem to think that's not the case.

Is there any reliable info to confirm which is correct (for FTTC connections at least)?

Thanks.

I believe DLM will happen whenever the trigger levels are met for it to act, that could be any time.

Once you get FTTP - you can say goodbye good riddance DLM! As FTTP is always on and always same speed!

FTTC DLM is pure evil!

I believe only at night time between 12-5am seems to be what DLM trigger occurs.

If you actually reboot the router several times a day within short periods of time this can trigger DLM to think your connection is unstable.

You then get a DLM for 10 days or so every night before it stops. If you experience drop-outs during day time then that more signals a fault with the connection, line or equipment. If the resync is not stopping or happens at an odd occasion outside night time that can't be DLM as you would be experiencing a pattern that should occur around a similar time.

I can confirm from my experience with BT and before that with TalkTalk under FTTC I have only been experiencing DLM triggers at night time.

In fact, for some odd reason after the BT SmartHub 2 firmware upgrade on the 8th of January I started getting DLM triggers again! Yesterday my connection dropped out at 1:10am. Before that I experienced again drop-outs at 3am on a few occasions after an initial 10 day stable sync.

Prior the firmware upgrade I was having a rock stable 78/20Mbps connection for 173 days connection up-time. Now in recent weeks I have been experiencing drop outs again and my connection has now dropped to 68Mbps download and 17Mbps upload.

DSL uptime:1 days,00 Hours44 Mins57 Secs
Data rate:17 Mbps / 68.122 Mbps
Maximum data rate:21.445 Mbps / 69.886 Mbps
Full Fibre (FTTP) Mode:Off
Noise margin:8.7 / 6.3

The only thing observed here is an SNR jump from 3dB to 6-8dB. Not sure for how long this will last. My BT FTTC service has generally been excellent last 2 and a half years. Last 5 years I have never had my connection drop to 68Mbps. I was always syncing between 78 to 80Mbps. Not sure what's going on, I don't believe it can be cross talk. But I am not too worried. At any time I can join Community Fibre as it is available here.
