No, it impossible! Ofcom states new ordering will take 7-10 working days.

If all true, must be the fastest install ever (a new record in UK) but I still don't believe it. Sorry (wait until 2pm to see if engineer knock the door) I doubt it!

Sky

For FTTP, Sky have a 2-stage installation process - Sky themselves do the interior work, fitting the ONT to the CSP, and Openreach install the fibre from the CBT in the street to the CSP.

Perhaps this was a Sky installer who was in the area, who came to fit the interior side of things? (i.e. not Openreach at all)

Were you migrating from another supplier or was it an install that included external works to get from the nearest connection point to your house? If it was the former then it probably was just handy a Sky engineer was in the area - if they also did the external works and cabling then that would be very impressive.

I might be reading the OP wrong, but as per my earlier post, I believe he ordered it at midday, and his wife answered the door to engineer at 2pm, he then posted about it the next day.

I should clarify, it was Openreach that turned up 2 hours after ordering from sky, it was after I received an e-mail from OR that FTTP was available on the 14th at 11.36. Immediately applied to Sky, Openreach called me at work at 16.02 to say the work was complete......now I wait for Sky to complete connection.

That may be the part that takes up to 10 days to complete 😂

Seriously did Openreach install the drop cable and CSP (only) then or did they complete the whole physical install complete with ONT?

I'm very impressed with the 2 hour turn around by Openreach, shame with Sky doing the internals these days all customers ordering through Sky now need 2 visits which overrides the '1 stage' category assigned to some properties.

I've already got Hey Broadband, very happy with them, but I'm a belt and braces type of guy and thought that having FTTP with Sky aswell might be nice. The Sky Guy did all the external work, paving slabs up etc. and a very neat job. A nice change in this day and age.

I thought Sky would do the internal work, as noted above, and Openreach then the external work (drop cable from street and CSP).

Seems yours is the other way around...

The OP never said the service went live on the same day, they said (if I understand correctly) an Openreach guy turned up on the same day to run the connectorised cable from the CBT to the CSP in advance of Sky turning up in the next few weeks to do the rest.

Thread has turned from records to irony. Shame the original Openreach
engineer wasn’t destined to complete the whole install on the record setting first visit. Then it really would have been something to write about.

Anyway hope you get connected soon.
