FTTP availability

[link to this post]

Hi folks,

Newbie here.
We’ve had Openreach in area for last 3 or 4 months installing fibre. Post code is AB42 3LJ).
5 weeks ago they were at our road, adaptors installed up poles and ducting run from bottom of pole right up to old bt access point on my property. Duct has been left with a pull through.
My status on checker has gone from available by end of 2026 to we are building in your area in next year.
I chatted with openreach engineer and he advised they were done and expect update on openreach in next couple of weeks.
I guess my question is do I just need to be more patient or is there someway to give them a nudge and if so how?

Thanks in advance

There's no way to give them a nudge. They'll be done when they're done. My property went live a couple of weeks ago and from what I can tell they didn't enable the service for anyone until the whole area could get it. After the big push there was a couple of months of continual minor roadworks here and there (replacing/unblocking ducting I'd imagine). It wasn't until the last of those had gone away that service went live.

There also wasn't any announcement. I just kept running the checker until one day instead of saying 'No FTTP' the checker said nothing at all. I placed an order but it eventually failed. Then about a month after the last roadworks the checker said it was available and the order went through.

Interestingly despite me having registered my interest with BT back in the day they have never contacted me to tell me it was available. Nor have they sent any leaflets around. I could be the only person in Brackley who knows it's available.

Edit: Here's my story, such as it is.

You can check here, to see if its gone live, you guys are quite spread out and the checker seems to have quite a few dups in your post code.

The only nudge you can give is if all your neighbours go live but just your property is missed.

https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/broadband-map#...

There are 8 properties in the postcode with Openreach FTTP available now, so probably more on the way. Map is showing addresses with FTTP, so hopefully not long now.

Even when the teams installing it have finished there is a few weeks for a commissioning team to visit to check work and add to the databases.

A quick update……….
Patience is not a virtue I am blessed with.
After 6 weeks I received a marketing call from EE trying to get me to sign up to full fibre.. At the 8 week mark I sent a query to OR using my neighbour can get service but not me option.within a day I received a standard copy and paste reply which completely ignored my query, instead referring me to Scottish government R 100 scheme. There was also a li k to yet another post code checker, which had a slightly different message which indicated that OR had completed engineering survey and that full fibre would be available by December 2025.
So I’m back to being patient 😊
