Openreach MDU no response

[link to this post]

I'm in London on the Golders Green exchange. In the last year both Openreach and Virgin have run full fibre down my street but as I live in a block of flats neither will connect me. It's a small block (3 floors, 6 flats) and the managing agent has filled in the openreach MDU form multiple times with no response. Eventually after some emails we got an email a couple of months ago from [email protected] just saying 'We will investigate if we can include it in our build plans.' and some generic stuff about delivering fibre to 25 million homes.

Is it common for openreach to have no interest in connecting MDU?

What's really annoying is that I'm ground floor and both lines run 2 metres away, and the manhole they used is right outside my window... Not sure if I should give up and just accept my FTTC for now.

Not since replying (at the time) to that message - is it worth emailing them regularly?

"run full fibre down my street" doesn't necessarily mean that they're serving properties from it - the fibre could be on its way somewhere else.

What happens if you put the addresses of neighbouring non-MDU properties in broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com ? If it shows "WBC FTTP" then it means those properties have FTTP available to order. If it says "FTTP on demand" it means there is *no* FTTP service to order. ("FTTP on demand" is a bespoke network build-to-order and typically costs £10,000 or more)

If all the neighbouring properties do have FTTP, then there's a form you can fill in:

https://www.openreach.com/forms/fibre-broadband-avai...

There is a specific option "I cannot get fibre but my neighbours can" to select.

Thanks. My neighbours can all order it and it also shows up through normal retail checkers. The link doesn't work for me but I did fill in a similar sounding form at the beginning-i got a response saying I had to use MDU form instead

i did look at tbb's map and theres a splattering of single properties that are in yellow i didn't have the chance to look on google street map. Theres a rather larger precentage of mdu's on say north road ....

https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/index.php?tab=...

I don't know what to say, others may have a better route to push for roll out at your mdu but i wouldn't in your[ the ops] positon "hold one's breath".

OR may do a infill sweaper program - who knows. There was a rumour of some the bduk/project gigabit money being used in london..

I'm in the same boat. The fibre AGG node for the entire neighbourhood is under the street across the road from my window, just 15 - 20 metres away. All the SDUs started having FTTP after that AGG went live. They haven't touched MDUs. They have wayleave for our block but no activity yet.

I've had FTTH for over 4 years and the fibre run passes two MDUs each with about 8 flats and houses either side of them have had full fibre available. A few months ago they did install the MDU and there wasa team of about 4 working for three days to do it. From what they said, about 1 in each block was signed up, so an expensive excercise for OR. I believe they mave have had to put an underground feed ro cross the road.

They will get to you - question is when! All you can do is keep nagging.

It isn't clear what you mean by "meant". If Openreach are choosing to install to that MDU then they will, if they choose not to then they won't. The only time "meant" comes into play is if the roll-out is externally funded, in which case the "meant" will depend on what has been agreed with those external funders.
