Chelwood gate (NDCGA) FTTP

[link to this post]

Does anybody have any information/knowledge that they can share with regards to this exchange being upgraded to FTTP?

I've been living in the area for the last year on dual FTTC connections but checking with BT, Altnets, etc. can't seem to find any mention of this exchange being planned to upgrade, taking into account that the exchange is due to have copper turned off in 2027.

Last check on the FTTP deployment checker was no plans for this exchange at all, so not sure how they can switch off copper if FTTP deployment hasn't been planned.

Local postcode, if it helps, is RH17 7LP.

Many thanks in advance.

Chelwood gate is due to close in due course so won't be receiving any upgrades for FTTP.

There are no plans to turn copper off in 2027. There is a (very well developed and very likely to happen) plan for Openreach to withdraw from analogue telephony by the end of January 2027 but that is something different. ADSL (via SOTAP), VSDL (via SOGEA) or V.FAST (via SOGFAST). will still be available - if you are on the non SO... version then your provider will need to migrate you across to the SO.. version (and in the process you will lose analogue telephony - your provider should offer an alternative telephony option via VOIP over your existing copper broadband).

In fact, despite Openreach's withdrawal from analogue telephony, BT will still offer it (to a very narrow set of customers) using Openreach's SOTAP for Analogue product and their own VOIP gateways in exchanges.

Openreach fibre for chelwood gate connects to uckfield exchange, so it's closure will have no bearing on current or future plans

Thanks, I realise having re-read what I wrote that it might have come across as somewhat misleading for those served by Chelwood Gate. I'm sure that those served from Chelwood Gate will get FTTP in due course but as you note, that (and existing FTTC/G.Fast) will be served from Uckfield and any FTTP roll out is not related to the Jan 27 analogue telephony withdrawal date.

The postcode you have given is under west/east sussex, served by cityfibre via bduk, orther suppliers may build in your road/area. On TTB's map its showing blue so there should activity from Cityfibre to give you fttp.

That said cityfibre's website is saying there is no current plan to provide fttp (based on Annexe 1, Cyrella)

Thanks all. Thought that would be the case and going through TBB's map didn't show any 'current' activity so just a case of bearing with FTTC for a little longer whilst they get going which is completely fair.

Shall keep signed up to Cityfibre and BT for the good news to come through. Thanks again
