BT missed chamber for fibre?

[link to this post]

Hi all

After many years the fibre has gone down in the estate. Only catch is it's stopped at a chamber in the road.

I have a BT chamber on my drive, they didn't touch this but it must serve some houses to each side of me a d myself (no idea as I have starlink and no telephone service). I spoke to the installers who were contractors and asked about the chamber but they just lifted it and said it's BT copper.

Why wouldn't they also complete the chamber on my property? Any ideas

Most likely, the ‘fibre DP’ AKA the CBT will go in the box they have reached. The final part to you and your neighbours will be done on an ad hoc basis as their orders go in .

Received a letter just the other day ..

when you say your drive, do you mean road or your actual driveway, as in your property ?

secondly try

https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/index.php?tab=...

Zoom in or use the post code box, and see what it says about your property ...

also switch on "Project Gigabit OMR Map Jan 2026" layer.

And come back with the results.

Also you don't need every joint box with a cbt in, as one cbt can serve up to 12 (upto 16 on the new mini cbts but those won't go in joint boxes) properties.

Thanks for the replies.

We are an estate of 14 properties with no others around.

Postcode search
OMR Status: White
May 2025 OMR Status Was : Under Review
Address is not in a Gigabit Contract
BDUK data suggests: No Gigabit service
BDUK data suggests: No known future Gigabit rollout
Not in an approved voucher area

The omr map layer shows a yellow dot

Yeah, I have a chamber with kit in it that's on my actual driveway marked BT and seen BT do work for a neighbour a while back. The chamber they did the work in is around 5 meters from my chamber on a path.

We are at the end of the estate so final 4 houses looking down. Towards the others on each side of the road

@Petronas,

Are you aware that Starlink is owned Elon Musk? The guy that can't even run a bath let alone a business??? Ditch Starlink immediately! Let's see if we can bring him down to reality....

Thanks for reading this little rant...

That post doesn't help. If you can only get 6mbps starlink is a lifesaver

Hi,

It wasn't meant to help. I just, plain, don't like Musk and would like to get him down to a level where he knows what it's like for us mere mortals, financially speaking.

You think one person in the UK cancelling their Starlink will make a difference? It's a global service that literally billions of people want.

As a person, Musk ranks amongst the worst in humanity. But as for his technical and business acumen, Starlink is an example of what he was able to achieve that nobody else did.

the last fibre span from the cbt to the csp can be up to 350m, so you can see why they haven't gone to your driveway box..

The yellow dots are not a great sign but, wait, and see what happens next .

If you are thinking of starlink try and hold off untill the fibre goes live, if you can.
