So the question then is how do the public tell difference between the VDSL2 side pod and a G.fast side pod?

Good question MrS.

@witchunt, what is the difference between my photo and the OP's photo where 2 apparently identical boxes serve different purposes?

The internals?

I doubt if Openreach feel under any obligation to publicise what is inside their casings smile. The fact we can in general do so is just happenstance.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

I think the Huawei G. Fast have a bulged door, Nokia G.fast have a single vent at the bottom of the door, and VDSL pods have vents top and bottom, but that may not be a hard and fast rule.

My understanding was Nokia G.fast was single vent, but Huawei G.fast had top and bottom vents

VDSL2 or G.fast they are both DSLAM of course and chassis is likely to be identical for G.fast and VDSL2, just different line cards.

Having just looked at a VDSL side pod it does look similar or the same as a Huawei G.Fast pod, so probably just have to ask here.
The OP's cabinet though is VDSL and no g.fast
