Hello all I'm moving currently on community fibre 1gig broadband

I'm moving to up north

Currently it has the fibre up to 76mpbs

But not the fibre up to 900mpbs

It says on wholesale that it has GFast there

The people say they get around 150mpbs so would they need to leave the GFast equipment there so I can sign up and plug in my own router

I look on wholesale checker it says it not a FTTP priority exchange but the fibre coming soon can be unreliable it says NOW and end of 2026

So if the fibre checker says now and end of 2026 will it still get fibre I know of stories where they do half the street and forget the rest due to PANS or something

The reason I say it unreliable one area I looked at said FTTP is not being built there and just this week FTTP is there so I don't want to hold my hopes up incase it don't happen

G.Fast was the short-lived (in terms of deployment) faster version of Openreach (BT and most other ISPs) FTTC. Restricted to those close to the Openreach cabinet.

No equipment needed though most ISPs would supply a router. Which you could simply leave in its box and use your own.

Okay as I can't find anyone selling GFast

Can I sign up to a fttc package and ring up and ask for it be upgraded to GFast


Also is there any idea when SR7 will get the upgrade to FTTP

* penzance Bungs SR7 9** has access to virgin media as the cable is meters away from my property is there any chance virgin media could thread a cable to me and the houses next door have virgin media and behide me has virgin media but for some reason this property does not

Now I don't know if there is a cable there as the house is unquie with its own postcode but it seems strange how all other houses are connected behide side and across the road and this one is not connected

I really hope we can find a way to connect this property I'm signing the papper work in a few weeks time

Is there a chance this can be fixed by virgin media or looked into as it seems a bit stupid that everything is there but the property can't access it I don't know if there they spilt or thread a cable to go into the house

In both of these postcodes in Penzance and Toft Crescent shows Virgin Media is live (1000 Mbps - FTTP) according to bidb.uk Virgin Media even shows "Your home will be powered by our full fibre connection".

But this doesn't look to me to be Nexfibre as it is limited to 1Gbps instead of the 2Gbps that is available for Nexfibre customers. But it is Full Fibre rather than Cable. Probably this is a Virgin Media Project Mustang upgrade.

You can't feed the cable from one house to another. The only way is if some generous folk either connected their Ethernet cable from their router to your house or gave you their WiFi network.

But they are usually quite a bit more expensive than a normal FTTC service since most of the mainstream ISPs do not offer G.Fast anymore. This makes the service more expensive especially since those smaller ISPs are naturally more expensive than the rest.

You will also need an Openreach G.Fast modem as the engineer no longer provides it. If you don't have it available in your home then you'll need to buy it separately from ebay otherwise you won't be able to connect your router without it.

Can you post up your result from the BT wholesale checker? Just anonymise it and use an image hosting website for the link to post here.

Yeah the virgin media problem is that all the houses around it are cabled up however this home has not I don't know weather it was built when the cables were laid or as S it had it own postcode it was forgotten or they put it as a different address

Use postcode SR79JS to pint point house it seems to be in the middle of the blue dots but not connected I don't know if it been missed out or it was forgotten about
