Orange's email sorting filters

[link to this post]

Has anyone managed to get the email sorting filters, (not the anti-spam filters), to work properly? (email - my settings - set up filters).

They should be ideal to stop the loads of misdirected bounce spams I get to random addresses due to the 'catch all' nature of my old freeserve address, i.e. [email protected]

If I set them up to monitor the 'To' field and set them in sequence firstly to pass to the inbox the addresses I want & then finally to dump all non-conforming unwanted addresses in the 'deleted items' folder then they seem to work OK on a series of test emails, but they just don't work virtually all of the time on stuff from the wild which meets the block criteria, no matter what logical operations I set up.

Just an update on this. In less than three days I have had 101 of the 'random character before the domain' type spams & misdirected bounces on my old freeserve address, all of which absolutely met the filter rules, (set on the 'To' field), for the mailsort filters to send to the 'Deleted Items' folder. Only 8 were actually diverted so I think I can say with some evidence that Orange's mailsort filters are virtually useless.....A shame, really, as if they actually worked they could be very useful in stopping this type of domain 'catch all' type spam.

I've been having a similar problem. I think the trouble is if freeserves webmail marks an email as spam it then does not go through the filters. Which is annoying as I would like to just delete everything sent to [email protected] but it always gets through by being marked as *** SPAM *** is there still no way to turn the spam filters off? (The filters are not reliable enough for me to just delete all spam). If I could just filter by the to email adderss correctly I could remove 95% of spam automatically!
