GRRRRRR Incompetent FOOLS!

As per the topic title - yes, I need a vent!

I managed to escape the wonderful world of Orange Broadband by exercising my rights under the recent T&C changes.

However, only after a complaint to the ISPA did they even respond. Well, by respond I mean by when I checked the BT tracker I noticed that a Cease request has been placed on the line! I specifically sent in all 3 letters sent that I wanted a MAC code to be issued, yet they do not seem to have the intelligence to do this!

I phoned up Orange today and the response was "The line will be ceased on the 24th November, we can't do anything about it." Not even an apology! So now I've got to foot the

My thoughts exactly.

As things stand as of today, I can't access the Member Center (and nor can Orange!) therefore my Talk service can't be activated and also the Wireless Livebox won't connect to my previously happy wireless PC situated in another room. I'm now on 1meg when previously I was on 2meg with another ISP but Orange refuse to believe that my line can support 2meg - arrrrghhh!!!!

I've made about a dozen calls to the Customer/Tech Support people, very polite replies but absolutely no resolutions to my issues. What a complete waste of my time and my money! If anyone is thinking of joining Orange then think again! I read all the complaints on this forum and thought 'that won't happen to me', well it did happen to me and i'm sick and tired of the whole damn mess, the wife and kids are fed up with me moaning, I can no longer access the web wirelessly, connection speeed is half what it was and I'm stuck with a disaster on an ISP and no help in sight!!!

Sign up with someone else and be happy, STAY AWAY FROM ORANGE - you have been warned!

Yup...I signed up and thought the same as you.

I went from having an ADSL Max connection with Nildram syncing at about 5mb to Orange on a 0.5mb
connection... though they omitted to tell me that as well!

Tell you the most irritating thing though; e-mailing tech support to ask if they've received my written letter of cancellation and receiving an e-mail saying "We cannot issue a MAC code if you cancel by e-mail" or "Read this useful FAQ!" Nothing at all to do with the question!!

Maybe you should consider leaving as well under the T&C changes.

Just signed my daughter up she only got 1mb.

But they have changed of policy this week and if no LLU they will upgrade to BT max system for free. Note new 12 month contract.

You can do it by signing into members centre - but as you have found out it takes a few days before you can access it.

I have just got my 1mbps service from orange. I have been trying to access the member centre since I signed up! so I called orange last night and today I can access the member centre, however I can't find anything saying I can regrade to adsl MAX . when I select change my broadband speed, it says I can regrade to from 1Meg to 512K. Nothing about 1 Meg to adsl MAX!

What I would say is so far Orange have been helpful and have resolved my issues promptly . My service was connected yesterday. Connected at 1Meg and I ran speed test and download speed was 970kbps . not bad for

Here is what mine is saying and I know there is no LLU on my exchange:

Your current broadband speed is:2Meg
You can upgrade up to:3Meg
Upgrade cost:free


Changing your speed means you'll be starting a new 12 month contract from the date your speed change has completed. We'll email you to confirm the change.

Remember!
Not all phone lines can deliver the speed quoted. But we'll automatically give you the highest speed your line can support.

They only started this week possibly they have not changed all details.

but what does the BT Checker Say? i.e. Is the line rated to 3 mbps on ADSL?

The BT Checker reports that I can have 1mbps ADSL or upto 3mbps on MAX.

It doesn't say that your regrade is to the MAX service so it could be that they will provide 3mbps fixed ADSL.

That is what I am trying to work out, but I can not get an answer yet.

BT checker also says 3 - I'm sure it use to say more than that..

My daughter went live on 1mb yesterday, I've just upgraded her today, she lives 100yrds away and she can get 3.5. I am not aware of fixed speeds all the way to 8.
I know there is no LLU - I'm fairly sure that it will be through the BT Max system

I've also signed up for orange... still waiting for my livebox, although i must admit that the customer services on orange are helpful and answer the phone quickly.... but then i've migrated from pipex... nuff said ;-)

Line went live saturday- a full 5 days before CS said it would when i asked them on friday night :/ Good job i'd asked the CS rep for my login details ;-)

Regarding the ADSLMax issue, i asked the CS dude WTF was going on, as when i originally signed up i was offered 2meg. As this was what i had with pipex, i wasnt unduly fussed, now if i type my number in i get offered 8 meg - he tried to amend the request for provision while i was on the phone, but couldnt, so recommended waiting a week or so, the phoning CS again and asking them to regrade the line to use ADSLMax.

As i'm 970m from the exchange, it appears from the sites i've looked at and inputted my attenuation etc into that i should get the full hog 8meg deal

Will keep you posted!

Sorry to hear you have had problems. Thank God I have finally migrated from this sorry excuse for an ISP.

Never had a problem with freeserve or wanadoo, but since Orange rebrand nothing but trouble and continually dwindling speeds.
