Problems adding 2nd wireless connection

i've just got a new laptop & i'm having loads of trouble connecting it. the only way i can get it to connect is by turning off the WEP security. when i do this though, i lose connection to my other laptop (even with security off). i've been through all the settings i know of, tried every channel, am using WZC & i'm currently banging my head against the wall. any suggestions???

I know it may sound silly - but have you got the Livebox in pairing mode (if you are using a Livebox that is)??

i did develop repetitive strain injury from pressing the pairing button, but thankfully i've got it sorted. seems the only thing my laptop, her laptop & the livebox will agree on is WPA security only. which means the old inventel wireless adapter i was gonna let the kids use on an old desktop i was going to set up for them when i get round to it isn't going to work. never mind.
