Livebox - Limited or no connectivity

[link to this post]

hi all

i use only wired connection but a firend of mine just brought a laptop today and we always get a "Limited or no connectivity" message.

of course wireless is enabled in livebox, i have double checked WEP key. in the laptop i can choose the network, but after aquiring IP address i get lomited connectivity and the IP adress is starting with 169.x.x.x. at the same time i got wired connection on my desktop PC, firewall in laptop is disabled. i have noticed that livebox is in pairing mode only for 10 minutes, but can't get wireless even if wireless LED is blinking.

i have had a MAC card of laptop network adapter on the list of associated devices, but removed it by mistake. it doesn't want to appear again.

also i tried to get connection via bluetooth, but only could pair devices, there is still no connection.

any ideas please? has anyone got similar problem before?
thanks!

Not too sure will check another day for you but i think you need to change the security on the laptop to WPA from WEP. Thats what was up with my laptop when i got the same message as you. Will conform that soon.

I agree - had to set up security as WPA-PSK - wasted half a day wondering why I couldn't connect when using WEP.

Changing the wireless channel used by the router on a number of devices can also overcome this problem
