" Now your noise margin is really high at 30db hence your speed is low. Your line should be aiming for about 6-8 snr. I think with your low attenuation you have a line that is capable of the full 8 meg. "
This is wrong ?
You should aim / hope for a HIGH s/n margin and a LOW atten !!
Idealy s/n @12 and above, the higher the better.
Idealy atten @ 42 or below the lower the better.
He has an a low attenuation which is great but i am not wrong as the OP is on an upto 8 meg LLU product and not a fixed speed one. If he was on a fixed spped product such as 1meg or 2 meg a noise margin in the 20s or 30,s would be great. Mine was 22snr on 2 meg fixed but on an LLU product you should really be looking at a noise margin of 6-12db for maximum speed.
I do agree that with you that its Oranges problem and it will take a long time to sort out.
Customers services always seem to use the "thats the fastest your line can support quote" when you clearly know its not.
Must be on thier sheet of paper.
