It is enforced, it's called a Fair Use Policy and the limit appears to be 50GB.

Have a look here http://www.orangeproblems.co.uk/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=4638633147ad7fc063eb8362e48ec1ec
where there are a couple of threads on the "unlimited" service.

Nasty!! Looks like i will have to wait for BEunlimited to come to my exchange, I'm surprised for a start noone has complained to the ASA over the fact they advertise a capped service which is obviously not unlimited. Defiantely not worth the hassle.

I find it bizzare that on all of the orange mobile side of things they state in their terms and conditions the fair usage policy in the form of "up to three hours" or "3000 texts" and that kind of lark, however they don't in the terms and conditions of the broadband.

50Gb is clearly a large amount which to the vast majority of users will seem to be unlimited, however for those who have greater requirements it should show it clearly in the terms and conditions so a potential customer can make an informed choice.

Sometimes, "unlimited" and FUP/AUP seem to be cheating. Why not just define the usage as a fixed amount so that users could understand easily. I am wondering if this type of limited "unlimited" broadband product is in the breach or not?

If it was in breach of ASA rules then i'm sure it wouldn't be there anymore.

They do say on all their adverts that the Unlimited Broadband package is subject to a Fair Usage Policy, which at 50GB a month, is pretty high.

Pretty high if you just do websurfing and email. If you intend to do anything with video you might as well forget it. People like Sky and the BBC use P2P methods of distribution which means that as well as the download you also have the programs uploading data as well. And certainly in the case of Sky the uploads continue after your download has finished.
