Orange 8meg Upgrade - Contract??

[link to this post]

Hi,

I got an email through today about my line being upgraded for free to 8meg, with the date it should be carried out on. This hasn't been requested, and I presume is Orange upgrading everybody to 8meg in the area.

Our current contract with them runs until the end of Febuary, when we are planning to get our MAC code and move somewhere/anywhere else. Will this upgrade force us onto a new 12 month contract, or not? If it does can we stop the upgrade, and possibly get our MAC code now?

Thanks.

Hi,

When I upgraded back in November to 8mb it did indeed begin a new contract. But as to them upgrading you without your asking seems odd, best call orange and find out...

Hi,

I spoke to someone from Orange a while ago about the 8meg upgrade thing, apparently if you just let the line increase as they are doing automatically you will not be tied into another 12 months.

Well ive been waiting and waiting for Orange to give me 8mb for free without entering into a new contract as well...was that a pig flying past?

Back to Reality....do you really think Orange would give you something for nothing? why would they give anyone upto 8mb for 19.99 without committing to another contract when they can simply keep charging someone (whos out of contract) 27.99 for a 2mb (30gb cap) service per month!?

More chance of winning the lotto!

Maybe they're swapping you to LLU (ie Unbundling the exchange). This'll cost them less than using BT's product.
