[link to this post]

Hi thinking of migrating from pipex to orange broadband unlimited .I use wireless netgear DG834G V2 router . My question is can I use netgear for orange broadband instead of the livebox not only for broadband but for the Talk Service as I see the calls are over the internnet or must it be livebox

many thanks jake

Hi,

My understanding is that to use Talk, you must have the livebox. However, it is possible to link the livebox to your existing router - which is what I have done with my Belkin router. It is a bit of a faff, you need to disable wireless on the livebox, DCHP on the other router, and then it will probably need fixed IPs on all connected computers.

Messy, but workable. (Sorry, I am not qualified to give authoritative answers on setting up - but I am sure that other can assist.)

I upgraded to reduce the cost of my monthly subscription, and decided to try the talk too. I must say that the call quality is *much* better than the skype system I was using before. YMMV.

Regards,

White.
