Time taken to activate ADSL / Livebox ?

[link to this post]

I signed up with Orange on 14th March and my Livebox arrived on the 22nd. According to the Prodigy ADSL checker, BT should have enabled ADSL on my line "by 23rd March", but I'm still waiting for something to happen. I phoned Orange on the 23rd who said yes, it should be activated that day and I should phone back if it wasn't working by the following day. It wasn't, so I phoned back - only to be told by their Indian call centre that it wasn't scheduled to be activated until the 28th. I rang their customer services dept in the UK and was told the date was the 27th.

Three different dates, and the second one is today... So, I'm waiting patiently :-)
So - my question is: Is it usual for the Livebox to arrive a week before the line is activated, or is this kind of thing the norm ?

...and I'm presuming the ADSL checkers will change from "this line is currently having ADSL installed on it" once they have actually flipped the switch ?

I know it's only another 36hrs before I have to start the next round of phonecalls trying to find out why it's still not working... :-( Pessimist ? Me ? ;-)

If things are running smoothly the livebox should arrive before your line is enabled so you can get it all set up and waiting for your line to activate. Not sure there should be that big a gap though between the box coming and the line activating!
