I've just done a few searches with samknows and came across the following, using the availablity checker and my phone number, postcode:

Well, I already knew I was in a Broadband area, but what has shocked me is the statement 'However, your line is currently unbundled by an LLU operator such as Be, Bulldog or Easynet (SMPF LLU). '

What on earth does this mean! I've never been with any of these providers. From the minute I signed up to broadband I've been with Wanadoo (throughout it's name changes).

As far as I am aware we haven't even got LLU round here, nor getting it till at least 2012.

Anyone got a clue???

being with orange/wanadon't says it all.

They have been upgrading local exchanges by putting their own llu equipment in them. You might have got an e-mail telling you they have upgraded your line and will now get speeds of upto 8mb. What they mean is they have been messing with the exchange and in due time will be buggering up you're internet connection giving you speeds slower then dial-up if the llu equipment works at all.

When your connection stops please don't phone support as the drones can't read the script, don't expect to recieve a mac code to be able to leave as the drones don't know how to give them out.

It means those providers are offering LLU (or cable with Telewest) in your area, you don't have to have been with those providers for them to offer the service! It's just saying they do offer it at your exchange.

Looks like you have a bit of a choice anyway for your internet, can't get cable or any LLU providers where I live!

I think you might have not even read the original post (other than the title) and have descended into a rant about Orange that has absolutely nothing to do with what the OP asked.

BlueCeltic has provided an accurate response to the OP.

The line check by the OP has shown that the line has been unbundled. The OP originally signed up with Wanadoo (now Orange) who have been unbundling many exchanges to date. SamKnows does not hold accurate information about the exchanges unbundled to date by Orange, I know as I have been unbundled since January and SamKnows still does not have it on the list.

Re the ranting about poor speeds and customer service, well he saved me the bother of replying with the same opinion about the disaster that is Orange LLU.

LLU speeds are improving I was getting 2.7 but for the past week it has been just over 6.

Others are reporting speeds just over 7 which is the best you are likely to get.

It now seems that the distance you are from exchange will govern how fast you get where before they were capping the speed.

I have been full of praise for Orange up to now, but time will tell as my service is to be upgraded on the 11/5/2007.
Is this the dreaded LLU?
At least your posting gives me hope that my speed may improve as i am about a mile from my exchange.
Will keep you posted on speed improvement or disaster lol.
