I updraded to Orange 'unlimited' from dial up last year, and upgraded to ADSLMax as soon as they offered. During the initial syncing phase, 8mb seemed to sync fine, as such, thats the speed I have been, and am still on. Had no major problems with speed or disconnections until the weekend.
In the livebox summary page, the noise ratings have always been pretty good, and the max attainable estimate has always been around the 11/12mbit range
However, since Saturday I've been experiencing disconnections. Whilst there are only a few a day, they can be annoying on a line that is used frequently for streaming etc and can last upto a few minutes.
Since the disconnections have started, the max attainable estimate has dropped to 8992kbps (pretty close to my 8128 sync speed), the noise margin is currently at 9.3 and the line attenuation 14.0.
I'm just curious as to what could cause this? Nothing has been altered on the home phone line system and ADSL filters are present on all sockets - Noise is just indicative of a problem between me and my exchange isn't it?
I know Orange have been upgrading exchanges to their LLU system however I have received no emails from them and also I live in a small village. When I last checked with samknows there appeared to be only a handful of broadband subscribers on it of which a small proportion may be orange - so I can't imagine them upgrading this exchange for some time yet.. (also no mention of Orange LLU, although I understand this can take a while to filter through)
Soo.. is a sudden fluctuation in noise and drop in attainable speed a BT issue or something else?
Thanks for your time, and any advice
