Catch all email address - removing it?

[link to this post]

Hi,

My other half has an old [email protected] email address.
Shes just started getting loads of "undelivered" failures, which are being sent to
[email protected]

Can the "catch all" feature of these addresses be removed, so only "[email protected]" works?

Cheers,

Zebs

Do you check mail via the POP3 service? If so just change the "incoming" account name to the actual addess..

right now the account/username will be YYY.freeserve.co.uk, change it to [email protected] and it will only check for mail sent to that address directly..

The side effect being that your account will eventually fill up with spam that your not checking and downloading.

If you go on to your Orange webmail account, you can then delete all the unwanted messages.

I have just had the "outbreak" of the undelivered mail rubbish, happens at odd occasions, then stops.

I did slightly the opposite by setting up a filter on the webmail page, so that any mail which didn't have the 'aaa' part of the '[email protected]' was deleted. This way, the catch-all should be bypassed.

I can't be certain it's working, as I've only had one since Sunday, which slipped the net , and I can't check just now as I can't log-on to the aptly named 'wassup.orange.co.uk'...

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that question. Just that in the delivery failure notice, the details showing where the failed email originated from, and returned to, included the 'aaa@' part made up from random letters/numbers.

edit: One slight hiccup I've discovered after my previous post regarding setting up the filter, is that sending via Orange (freeserve) webmail, my return address begins 'member@' (and therefore gets deleted), where-as sending via Outlook (as I always do) the return address is my proper addy.
