What is going on with no-speed Orange?

[link to this post]

My ADSL/Router regularly syncs at over 8Mbps i.e my line is good (I'm less than 1 mile from BT exchange).

My usual download speed over 12 months has been from 2.3 to 2.8 best.
Suddenly after the weekend it shot up to 6.7Mbps i.e. more than twice as fast as its ever been!

Today I read a post here on low speeds and tested mine immediately. It was well below 1 Mbps!!

What the h??l is going on. I've complained regularly but is anyone is reading the emails or is it just the machine which says "I've found the best match for your problem in Help....etc". Funny that. As if I didn't read the online help before trying to wreck my head with the banal replies from Orange Customer 'DIY' Services Help. Fantastic eh? And all for near enough

Funny you should say that because I got the same reply to my email I sent last week asking about the problems they said they were having and if they knew when they might be resolved. Got a reply saying 'I have searched the Orange help site and found this article that will best answer your question', and the article in question was about improving my broadband speed - not really related to my question!!!

I had constant speeds of around 2mb when I upgraded to 2.5mb back in January, then in April it suddently dropped, and has only just gone back up to around 1.5mb. Its like a bleedin' yo-yo!!!

I hope you have better luck than me, I have been waiting over three months to get above 1 meg speed with this ISP and like you they ignore all e mails and ask for us to phone the expensive Indian help centre who dont do a thing in fact have lied to me about the problem. I have tried everything but hey I only pay for a xxxx service and orange dont care, good luck

I'm not on LLU but speeds seem fine now over the last few weeks since that blip a month or so ago, even at peak time get around 4mb. I notice you've get better pings on LLU (good job I'm not really a gamer, seems 110+ pings I get) although slower upload speed.

Overall though I can't really complain been with Orange about 3 months I think, I'm glad Orange sorted the peak time speed problem relatively quickly.

Well mine is hopping all over the place with d/l speeds of nil, 1005, 620, 6960, 1516, 582, 6187, 5859 and 858 Kbps all since this thread started. I'm due to call them back this evening after a 'line test' - so wish me luck...
