New Customer

Hi,

I've just added Orange broadband to a second line in the house (BT broadband is on the other line), I was impressed (fast speed) right up until the Livebox fell over 20 minutes from installing it !

After spending 30 minutes on the phone to India, then 15 minutes to the escalation department they sent me a disc to 'recover' the box, this arrived today and after another 35(!) minutes talking to India and the escaltion department again and trying not to go through the same procedure again (impossible) they are now sending me a new box.

Anyhow what I wanted to know was: I had upgraded the box to the latest firmware (liveprinter appeared) from the Livebox control panel - it all worked ok for about 5 minutes after that, but then hung while trying to configure it for an XBox 360 wirelessly and when it was rebooted it was broken and couldn't be recovered, is the new firmware faulty, has anyone else experienced this with the new firmware ?

or was I just unlucky with the box ?

What was the firmware version you got when you updated? The last I saw was .3 on the end, and it had no major issues. Couple of situations where it went weird... but if the recovery/rescue didn't work its likely the box is actually faulty rather than the firmware.

Did someone talk you though the USB rescue driver procedure? What is your live box doing, lights and sound wise when you boot it up (it makes beeps on the line).

Sadly I can't remember the firmware number, all I know is that the firmware it came with didn't have an option for liveprinter, but the updated one did.

Yes, they went through the USB rescue procedure, it seemed to be going well , but at the end I just got a continual flashing exclamation mark and nothing else, left it for an hour, still no difference, tried many factory resets still no difference.

When it originally went wrong after power cycles it would only light the exclamation mark, and then all the lights would go out completely as though it was completely dead

I'm just not too confident about the quality of the boxes now, I want to set the xbox 360 up wirelessly but am afraid it will kill the box again (it hung trying to configure the wireless connection and once rebooted never worked again !)

Thanks

I agree; my Livebox wireless connection has actually been more reliable and robust than the previous 2 wireless modem/routers I've owned. It handles wireless connections with 3 PCs all with different adapters.I am touching a large piece of wood as I type this however !!
