Receiving a MAC Code?

[link to this post]

I am trying to migrate to another ISP and I have requested a MAC via email. First response was I need to confirm additional details because they need to confirm my identity before they can issue a MAC Code. I have confirmed the details and I have now received and email saying its been past to the correct department and that it will take a further 5 days to issue. Does anyone know why it takes 5 days to get the code and if the code will be provided by email or in writing......

for anyone interested the reason I am leaving Orange, its because I had a BT fault on my line, after the repair my BB connection is slower by 1mbps, I have tried to speak to Tech Support and Customer Support about it but they really don't seem to understand that this is due the fault and I would like it investigated, they just keep saying I need to take out a new 18m contract if I want a speed upgrade.

Your line problem will probably follow you to your next ISP, but hopefully they'll have half-decent techs who can actually get it sorted for you

It doesn't take 5 days to generate a MAC, it's simply a time limit for the ISPs to provide it to you -- it only takes a moment to get the code. Unfortunately, some ISPs, including the now-infamous Pipex, like to forget about it until you remind them, as though the five days is a target rather than a limit

If they haven't given it to you over the phone, they'll probably e-mail it
