Wannado/Orange Mail Servers

[link to this post]

Hello All,

i was wondering if anyone knows,

does the Orange/Wannado e-mail servers allow connection via an Unfriendly IP (when i say unfreiendly IP i mean from a non Orange/Wannado IP)

i am currently trying to set my mates laptop to download his mail from the orange servers when ever it connects to the Internet, thats not always from a orange connection,

i currently use BT broadband at my home where i am setting up, but when i do i get errors along the lines of,

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '****@******'. Subject 'test', Account: 'wannado Account', Server: 'smtp.wannado.fr', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 relaying mail to ******* is not allowed', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

they normally reside in France but they are over here on Holiday, and wanting to check there mail (he doesn't like the webmail Facility),

Hope Someone can help,

Anyone can download/receive msgs from Orange's POP3 servers, given the correct username/pwd. However, only users connected thro' Orange as the ISP can Send msgs using Orange's port 25 SMTP server. Your error msg relates to a Send. Your only solution when connected to a different ISP is to use that ISP's SMTP server.

This is quite usual. Most ISPs do this, blocking SMTP port 25 outgoing of other ISPs, to prevent spam. Some ISPs do provide an alternate non port 25 SMTP server; Orange doesn't.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU BB => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU BB

if they normally reside in france are they using a french wanadoo/orange email address or uk? if it's french it'll need to be pop.orange.fr , if it's uk it needs to be pop.orangehome.co.uk. if you're using BT to connect the outgoing should be smtp.btinternet.com
