moving home

just moving home and currently with orange homemax package so i rang orange to ask if they can transfer my package to my new address and they say i need an active bt phone number at my new address so will need to sign up with bt first on a 12month line only contract and then orange can supply broadband only is this right as i read somewhere that if the exchange is orange llu then orange can do it all? i will be on the same exchange as i am now just moving a few roads away.Also does anyone know if i need to give notice if i cancel my homemax?

Orange LLU is not full LLU where the phone line is unbundled as well. So, as they say, you need a BT phone line before they can provide BB.

and if it had orange llu listed then orange could do it guess not then so looks like i will have to go with bt line rental and £127 activation fee

Well i ordered a line with bt £127 on a 12month contract then rang orange and they told me to get back onto bt that i have no need for a bt line that because i am on homemax and on the same exchange they do all the swapping over to my new home address and i keep my number so now i need to get bt to cancel my order and engineers visit.

Duh! Then why Orange tell you contradictory info?

i know some excuse that the computers would have been down when i rang last night? even though i have had emails from them today saying i needed a bt line first??
