I recently emailed a summary of fluctuating broadband speeds, monitored for a 3 month period, to Orange Customer Service - some of the peaks & troughs were @ 80% variance. I also mentioned we were experiencing more "line-drop outs" than ever, and that we had an old router. Without hesitation, they emailed back within 24 hours, and advised that I would receive a new router within 48 hours. After months of ineffective diatribe from Orange Customer service, it appears they are turning over a new leaf. Or is this the influence of their involvement with BT?
As promised, a brand new NETGEAR router arrived from Orange a couple of days ago to replace our old SIEMENS Gigaset. Just got round to making the dreaded swop over, but to my amazement it took just minutes, as It was a case of just plug in and play - well for our main computer anyway

My son's wireless connection may involve the security stuff, but we'll cross that bridge when he gets in from work.
Now to speed issues, which lead to this router change; following are two results just taken on new router, compared to most recent on old router:-
Date Day Downstream Upstream IP Address Connection
24/08/11 14:12 Wed 5137 Kbps 937 Kbps xxxxxxxxx my home DSL

Not much change to previous Download, but three times Upload !
Will continue to monitor for the next few days.
