If they're not they're not, but until then... it's for sale. If this post is breaking any rules, I apologise in advance.

Yeah! The locked to Orange, New Bright Box router is for sale here if you are daft enough to pay-out £95.00 for it.
|
|
|
Can we be sure that it is locked to Orange, despite the website saying it is?
It has all the BB settings user-settable, unlike Sky-locked routers which hide most of them.

How did you get hold of it? Are you on Orange as ISP? What you using instead?

I don't see the relevance of this. However, I have two, as my friend owed me a router.

As far as I recall you have never acknowledged you are on Orange.
It has been assumed that maybe you were or you were just hacking a newly released router out of interest.

It has all the BB settings user-settable, unlike Sky-locked routers which hide most of them. The Orange Live Box router is locked to Orange, the Orange Siemens Gigaset SE572 router is locked to Orange, also their
later Orange Netgear DGN1000 router is locked to Orange. What makes you think the new Orange Bright Box router
would not be locked to Orange?

...
What makes you think the new Orange Bright Box router would not be locked to Orange? I have easily used the Orange Siemens SE572 on O2 and AOL connections (e.g. see http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/general/t/3704723-r... ). Hence the rest of your premise doesn't follow.
Yes, the GUIs are tailored to Orange, but that doesn't make them locked. Perhaps that's what you are confusing "locked" with?
Also the important point I made in my OP the all fields are user-configurable.

I'm with Orange, yes. The best ADSL provider we've ever had. Polite, efficient, courteous... and they do not lie to me. Very happy.
Maybe the whole debate over whether or not the Bright Box is locked or not, is pointless speculation until someone bothers to *try* it.

It's not pointless! It opens up the possibilities which aren't there with Sky-locked routers for the reasons I stated.
Yes, the only way to know for sure is to put it on another ISP, but at least you can try. When I next put O2 on my other line ...
You are dreaming if you believe Orange support is useful; they are an ignorant bunch that unable to use their brains and have no technical nous

You seem to hold a lot of hatred and aggression, which saddens me intensely. Did you ever consider that it could be your perception and approach, which causes this negativity, and perceived faults of others? It's pretty ignorant to generalise in such a manner as you have, and yes - maybe that is your *perception* of them, but people react to the way in which others treat them... so possibly it is your approach, and the convenience of categorising individual human beings into one grouping, to prove how terrible you say they are, to be true.
I mean no offence by my observations, but in the same way that I come across as over-zealous without considering what I am saying (I have faults, as we ALL do), you come across as cutting, negative and generalising, whilst possibly forgetting that we are ALL human, and we ALL have faults, not just everyone except you.
God bless you my man.

Do you know how great it is, the power of forgiveness? I may have said sorry a few times, but in case you hadn't seen those, I am sorry, as I said. Do you wish to hold bitterness against me, even so?
You call me a hypocrite, but fail to realise the inherent, unavoidable hyprocrisy of you doing so, it seems. Yes, I am a hypocrite, not proud of it, but I am human, and God forgives me. Do you?
"Unforgiveness is like drinking poison yourself, but expecting your enemy to drop dead"
(Matthew 6:15)
I have apologised, and I mean it. I refuse to bow down to your pride, as I have no reason to.
Bless you dude.

Your words? Why should I mark your words, especially?

This thread is getting way too personal and as the OP was removed, thread dead in the water so I am closing it.
Advise less sermonising and personality observations and members stick to issues.
